Investment Strategy

The current classes of partnership interests in Marwyn Value Investors LP are now closed to new investors. No new investments in companies will be made from these fund classes other than follow-on investments in existing portfolio companies. The Manager's strategy is to focus on the on-going support of and maximisation of value of the existing portfolio of companies before realising those investments and, subject to the requirements of the remaining portfolio, returning capital to Fund investors.

The strategy of Marwyn Value Investors LP is to identify, invest in and work alongside experienced operational managers with strong track records. We do this by offering unparalleled support to the management teams, including corporate finance and advice, infrastructure support and a full range of management services. We offer the kind of support normally available only to much larger companies.

Marwyn looks for opportunities in diverse sectors and investment cycles, usually the European and North American small and mid-cap markets (under £1bn). We have a preference for sectors influenced by regulatory or structural change where we see opportunities to create value. These include conventional regulated industries, such as environmental services, gaming and financial services, as well as sectors undergoing specific structural change, such as media distribution, training, leisure and food manufacture.

Investments in the existing share class have all been made through Marwyn established Special Purpose Vehicles. Our “Buy-and-Build” strategy uses these publicly-listed vehicles to acquire target companies. Marwyn Value Investors LP normally holds an equity stake of up to 30% following the completion of the initial acquisition. The balance is held by our co-investors, institutional third party investors, management and Marwyn staff.

Marwyn Value Investors LP invests money on the same terms as management and other investors. We will remain investors in a company until it is ultimately sold. The typical holding period for these investments is between two and three years.
